NetBSD

NetBSD NetBSD is a free, secure, and highly portable Unix-like Open Source operating system available for many platforms, from large-scale server systems to powerful desktop systems to handheld and embedded devices. Its clean design and advanced features make it excellent in both production and research environments, and the source code is freely available under a business-friendly license.

Origin – Home Page: USA – NetBSD

Desktop: KDE

Price: Open Source and free

Comments: NetBSD is a server-oriented distro, and offers a menu-driven installer. Like OpenBSD, it uses the traditional root user system, and also like OpenBSD, you will have to spend some more time after installation before you can have a usable desktop.

Download/Buy: The latest stable version is NetBSD-4.0, which can be downloaded here. NetBSD CDs can be purchased from any one of the vendors in this list

Tutorials/Tips: The NetBSD Guide is a good place to look for installation and setup guidance
