Hymera Open


HymeraHymera Open is a desktop-oriented, GNU/Linux operating system based on Debian. This is a relatively brand new distribution developed and maintained by Hymera Engineering S.r.l., an outfit based in Milan, Italy. Aside from Hymera Open, Hymera Engineering also publishes the following editions:

  • Hymera Desktop
  • Hymera Evolution
  • Hymera Server

License/Price: Hymera Open is free, published under the GNU GPL. Hymera Desktop is a fee-based edition, Hymera Evolution is a USB disk version, while Hymera Server is a fee-based server edition.

Desktop: Hymera Open uses the GNOME desktop environment by default. The K Desktop Environment and Xfce are available in the repository. Compiz, a 3D compositing window manager, is installed by default on Hymera Open.
